Overview
The Leonida Keys are GTA 6’s island-chain region, a clear analogue for the Florida Keys — the arc of tropical islands trailing off the state’s southern tip. Official postcard artwork confirms the region, depicting bridges, turquoise water, and laid-back island life.
Real-World Inspiration
Everything about the Keys maps onto the Florida Keys: the overseas highway of causeway bridges linking low islands, the marina culture, the sport-fishing and diving economy, and the end-of-the-road, anything-goes attitude of places like Key West.
Role in the World
Coastal, defensible, and threaded with boat access, the Keys are a natural setting for the maritime smuggling that defines part of GTA 6’s criminal economy. Brian Heder — who lives on a boat at the marina and works for his smuggler uncle — is exactly the kind of character rooted here.
Why It Matters
Island chains offer gameplay you can’t get from a single landmass: long bridge chases, boat getaways, isolated hideouts, and a genuine change of pace from the city. The Keys give Leonida a distinct tropical frontier.
